Reviews & Testimonials

We married in 2016 and knew that we wanted to start exploring options for starting a family. We initially attended an open evening event at Ipswich Hospital where we met the fertility team and professionals from Cambridge IVF. The staff were really friendly and supportive.

Once we had our initial consultation and decided on a treatment plan, we found a suitable sperm donor through a recommended UK clinic which was sent to Cambridge in preparation for treatment.

The beginning of our journey didn’t go as well as we had hoped. Justine had a number of IUI treatments which were unsuccessful, so we decided to try IVF as this had a higher success rate. After discussions with the team, we chose an IVF multicycle package which would hopefully provide opportunity for us both to experience pregnancy in the future.

Justine had her eggs harvested as part of our first IVF cycle and we were able to freeze several embryos. Unfortunately, we experienced two further unsuccessful embryo transfers and decided to take a break in summer 2019.

Being in a same sex couple, we had the option to transfer a frozen embryo to Jemma and were over the moon when this worked first time! In July 2020 we welcomed our son, Reggie, into the world, and it was absolutely worth the wait.

We are now in a fortunate position where we have two further IVF cycles available if we want to grow our family in the future.

We first met Sonya, Lucy and Dr Djavid Alleemudder at Ipswich Hospital Fertility Clinic in February 2018 after 4 years of unexplained Infertility. It became apparent from our first meeting that they were truly passionate about the people they helped and want the best outcome for everyone. Every appointment we had with them made us feel supported, no question was too small or silly and they were always at the end of the phone if we needed them. We began our IVF treatment in July 2018 once all the funding and relevant tests had been carried out. Sonya, Lucy and Djavid explained exactly what the medication did, when we needed to take it and what to look out for.

We were so lucky that our second (and last) embryo transfer was a success and are blessed with our now 3.5year old son, born August 2019.

Over the last couple of years it became apparent that to grow our family further, we would need the help of the team again. We were welcomed back with open arms, with no assumptions about us remembering what this journey entailed, just support when we needed it most. The protocol for this round was the same as the last and again we have been lucky enough to have another successful round with our second baby, due in August 2023.

Without the love, support, kindness of the team, our IVF journey wouldn’t have been as positive as it was. They has given us the ability to share our journey with many people and take some of the negativity away from the whole IVF process. My husband and I owe them everything. Without them we wouldn’t be the family we are today.

I have recently been under the care of the fertility department at Ipswich Hospital. The care received (in particular by the three nurses, Becky, Lucy and Sonya), was utterly incredible.

The kindness, compassion, support and patience that they showed with not only myself, but also my husband and my mum who both attended appointments with me was above and beyond. Not only that, but they run the department incredibly efficiently, always coming back to calls and emails immediately, with regular communication in between appointments with regard next steps etc. They never ever made me feel like any question or call was too much (and I had a lot of questions and made a lot of calls!).

I was referred to the fertility team back in September 2022 by my GP. Unfortunately the year before that the support my husband I received was very poor in the community, so I am incredibly grateful for the team at Ipswich as they could not have done more for us.

I am sat here 28 weeks pregnant and I can’t help but think I may not be in this position if it wasn’t for what the team did for us & it is only now I have found the time and the right words to share our gratitude with you all. As a nurse I know how pressure everyone’s time is in ESNEFT, I could see from day 1 meeting them that they were an incredibly bust service serving a huge number of couples struggling to conceive but not once did anything get cancelled, postponed, our appointments never ran late and nothing was ever too much. To be honest I am not quite sure how they do it, but they do it so incredibly well and that is why it was really important for me to share my thanks with them in this way.

I have to say a special thank you to Sonya who we met with the most who could not have been more supportive of both my physical health but my mental health throughout this journey. The most challenging part of the journey the IVF was made so much easier on me mentally as physically it was really tough by the kindness and empathy the nursing team showed us, this includes Becky, Lucy and Sonya. Their attention to detail and their knowledge in the field is really quite something, we always had faith and trust in them. Dr Alleemudder who we also met a few times was great, he always explained everything to us in detail and made us feel at ease.

I cannot thank this team enough, in our eyes they are unsung heroes in ESNEFT.
